Earlier this year, Silo star Rebecca Ferguson told Collider that the hope for the series future was that it would get four seasons in which to spin out and solve all its mysteries. Well, unlike the frustrated truth-searchers living in the silo, the show’s makers got what they wanted: Apple TV+ has renewed the series for a third and fourth season, and announced that it will come to an end with season four.

It’s always nice to know that a showrunner is going to get to wrap up the story they want to tell—and that they know that, too, and won’t find themselves scrambling to create an end halfway through a season. Showrunner Graham Yost said in a statement, “With the final two chapters of Silo, we can’t wait to give fans of the show an incredibly satisfying conclusion to the many mysteries and unanswered questions contained within the walls of these silos.”

Silo is based on Hugh Howey’s book trilogy of the same name, which began with Wool. As the show’s synopsis says:

Silo is the story of the last ten thousand people on Earth, their mile-deep home protecting them from the toxic and deadly world outside. However, no one knows when or why the silo was built and those who try to find out face fatal consequences. Ferguson stars as Juliette, an engineer who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.

The series has a fantastic supporting cast—Tim Robbins, Steve Zahn, Iain Glen, Harriet Walker, Chinaza Uche, Remmie Milner, Tanya Moodie, and more—but it often sits squarely on the shoulders of Ferguson, whose Juliette spent the first episode of the currently-running second season entirely alone. Her roles in Dune and Mission: Impossible might be flashier, but in this series, she constantly proves she’s a star.
